I took a photograph of a Berber, sitting on a wall early in the morning

For the wall I used hand dyed cotton and linen for the Berber, as linen is coarser and reflects his coarse woolen coat.

The background is screen printed. After the stitching was done I used white paint with a roller to give the impression of stonework.

Machine stitched, hand stitched into the stone wall. More accents with markal sticks and inktense pencils

A piece made for the Festival of Quilts Birmingham 2013

and also shown at Quilt Fest 11-13 April 2014 Moscow, Nadelwelt Karlsruhe Germany May 2014, World Quilt Exhibition USA August 2014
