To the end of the world.

To celebrate the Queen's jubilee in the Romsey Quilters Exhibition 2002, 12 people were asked to design a banner. The banners were to go against the pillars in the Romsey Abbey, so the size was important.

Each banner was to depict a part of the Queen's reign, e.g. technology, sports, arts, women, medicine, transport, exploration and so on. All discoveries of the last 50 years.

The banners were made by the Housegroups or other small groups within the Romsey Quilters,

I designed the Transport banner with from the top the Concorde, The Elizabeth II cruise ship, Eurostar and the Mini Metro in racing green, super imposed over an elongated globe with the headline "To the end of the earth".

After the exhibition in Romsey, the banners went to Alexandra Palace in London for the Knitting and Stitching show and after that to the Harrogate show.

At the moment the banners live in someone's spare bedroom waiting for a decision what to do next with them.

Size 60cm x 270cm.

Owned by Romsey Quilters.
